New in this release
- Several new themes with background images (precursor for custom themes with pick-your-own background image)
- Hyphenation support for many languages
- StarDict dictionary format support. See official ShelfServer for Free dictionary files.
- Dictionary option in search now uses installed StarDict files instead of going online.
- Option to set line spacing
- Unsupported documents now show up in file list so they can be deleted. Details page shows any known information (like PalmOS magic) to help support.
- Style preview in prefs more accurately shows true reading style.
- Last read text is displayed much more quickly at startup, though interface may be unresponsive while background initialization completes.
- Bookmarks screen now remembers list scroll position (helps dictionaries)
- File list will show book titles (if available) instead of filenames. Includes prefs option to revert to filenames even if titles are available.
- Fixed race condition in PalmOS files which could lead to first chunk failing to load while background indexing is running.
- Display book cover art while book is loading.
- Create simple "book cover" with title cover art for books that don't have their own art.
Known Issues
- The StarDict spec is only partially implemented, but every specimen I've come in contact with appears to render okay with the current subset of features. If you run into StarDict files that don't work, please send them.
- Not sure about the "details disclosure" graphic (red book w/ blue circle/arrow) in the Shelf interface. It was put in as a quick bugfix for 3.0, but I'm not sure about the look of it.
Focus for Testing
- StarDict dictionaries! You can download a huge number of these from the public ShelfServer now. The latest ShelfServer beta release will allow you to transfer them over from your own machine. Googling "stardict" should find 100's of examples.
- Feedback on the two new color themes would be appreciated. Also, if you have some textured background you think looks especially good, I'm open to suggestions. Full user customization should hopefully be in the next beta.
- Please stress the search functions as well.
